Thank you to all of our nominees for stepping up in the schools and being great examples of true educators! With that being said, it is our pleasure to introduce you to June Hurst, our Company-Wide February 2015 Teacher of the Month! June is an infant teacher in the Gummy Bear classroom at our Springfield I location!

Program Director, Melissa Corporon, had the following to say about June, “Ms. June has been with the Little Sunshine’s family since 2004. She has worked with our 2-year-olds as well as toddlers. Currently, though she is working as an infant teacher in our Gummy Bear room. Ms. June has a love for the babies like no one else.  She cares for each one as if they are her own. June is a very dedicated worker and you can tell during her days here that she loves what she does. We have children in our older classrooms that still love to visit their Juju. I am personally very glad that she is a part of our LSP Chestnut team family!”

June got her start in the childcare industry when she was just 16, by working at a military-based preschool where her Dad was stationed. After graduation and having children of her own, June started her own home daycare, which she ran for 12 years! She then made another move back to Missouri and started working at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse, and has now been here for twelve years. She stated that she loves being at LSP because of the family-oriented atmosphere and always having someone there to help her out!

June has been in both the Toddler’s classroom and the Infants, but she holds a special place in her heart for the babies. She loves watching all of the developmental milestones and getting to experience the excitement in their eyes as they change on a daily basis. Every day is something new and different and the experience are memorable!

We asked her what her favorite curriculum project was that she had done in her classroom and she couldn’t think of anything because they are all so enjoyable and fun!

Something you might not know about June is that she was born in Norwich, England and spent her years growing up in Germany while her Dad was in the military.

Outside of work, June enjoys spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren!
