Staying Healthy in the Winter Months

Staying Healthy in the Winter Months

With the winter months, comes the dreaded season of sickness. Keeping kiddos illness-free is easier said than done, especially in a preschool setting, but following a few winter blues rules will help in keeping the flu monster out of your house this year!

1. Wash Your Hands

Consistently washing your hands is the most effective method of staying healthy. Make sure you are teaching your kiddos proper hand washing technique and always be willing to help out the younger ones who can’t scrub quite as hard. Always wash before and after meals, after coughing/sneezing, after bathroom breaks and after coming home from school, outside play, etc.

2. Boost Immune Systems

Eating a healthy and balanced diet will allow your child’s immune system to boost naturally and quickly. Making sure they are getting plenty of vitamins and stay hydrated will go a long way in helping their health.

3. Follow Sick-Day Policies

Sending a sick kiddo to school will only extend the shelf life of that sickness by allowing children to pass it around the classroom. Make sure that kids are sickness, fever & symptom free before sending back to school. Kids will learn and interact more if they are feeling their best!

4. Stay Warm

Always send your child to school with plenty of necessary clothing and accessories to keep them nice and warm during outdoor play. Outside time is crucial to student learning, so when temperatures allow, kiddos will be getting lots of fresh air. Make sure they are stocked up with their winter coat, gloves, hats, scarves, etc in school cubbies!
