Congratulations to all of these educators! Thank you for all you do every day! With that being said, it is our pleasure to introduce you to Lauren Maxey, our Company-Wide May 2015 Teacher of the Month! Lauren is an infant teacher in Southlake, TX.
Program Director, Grace Fannin, had the following to say about Lauren, “Lauren shines so brightly here at Little Sunshine’s! We’ve been impressed with her attitude and love for our kiddos since day 1 of her working here. She teaches in Avonlea, our infant 2 classroom, and is wonderful with the babies. Additionally, she is also our music teacher and is very passionate about engaging our children in fun music activities. She takes pride in her work and it definitely shows! Lauren is incredibly patient and always has a smile on her face. Parents have noted time and time again how great Lauren is with their children and they appreciate all of her hard work! We are thankful to have her be a part of our team here in Southlake!”
Lauren got her start in teaching at a young age, by being the big sister to two younger brothers. She enjoyed teaching them, but also showing them new things and watching the two learn and grow! It was because of this passion, she followed her desire to be a teacher, and received her degree in Music Education.
Working in Avonlea, with the older infants, is a joy for Lauren. They are at the age of crawling to walking and they are interested in everything and learning such fun things! She enjoys working with them on pulling up, walking and using sign language.
Lauren’s favorite part of working with Little Sunshine’s Playhouse-Southlake would be knowing that everyone is dedicated to going the extra mile. She stated, “Little Sunshine’s Playhouse does a wonderful job making their employees feel supported, valued, and appreciated. I also love being able to get creative. Each day brings new challenges and adventures ready for the taking.”
One of Lauren’s favorite curriculum projects she has done, was making the dinosaurs with the babies during the Dinosaur Discovery theme. They changed the name of T-Rex to names such as Charliesaurus & Kaylenasaurus, to use for name recognition with the kiddos!
In her free time, Lauren enjoys being at home relaxing with her husband. She also enjoys reading, crocheting and spending time with her dog and bunny!
