June National Teacher of the Month

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart eachMs. Jessica, National Teacher of the Month June 2020 and every day. They instill hope and challenge each student to take a risk with courage and to believe in themselves. They encourage their students. Great teachers help them learn if they fail and joyfully celebrate their successes.

We are pleased to announce that our 2020 June National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Jessica of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Chesterfield.

Ms. Jessica has been a team player since day one at LSP Chesterfield. She is one of our amazing lead infant teachers and is very deserving of this award. Jessica came to our school with years of experience working with infants and families, and her love of children shines in everything she does. Not only does she develop wonderful activities to promote the growth of each child, but she goes even further with making healthy attachments to each child a priority. All of the families in her care have the most wonderful things to say about her, and she has maintained fantastic relationships with each family throughout all of COVID – going above and beyond to send them daily LuvNotes, participate in Marco Polo, and checking in just to say “hello.” She’s a fantastic teacher, positive, and willing to always jump in to help her coworkers.

Here is some fun information about her and what makes her such a standout!

What age group do you teach?
Infants

What is the name of your classroom?
Lilliput

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I love watching the infants make new discoveries and being a part of their learning process. Plus, baby snuggles are the best and always brighten my day.

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
The simple things are the best. I love how much the infants enjoy a water sensory bin. It’s so fun to let them splash.

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love the sense of family at LSP. We all just want to help each other be the best teachers we can be. The people that have reached out to me during a difficult time is something I haven’t experienced at other places of work.

Who and/or what inspires you?
My own children inspire me. I want them to be proud of me and to see that hard work is rewarding.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy playing in the yard with my kids, watching movies and reading.

Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect.
I went to school to become an audiologist.

We also want to say congratulations to all the nominees who are listed below. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!
