Our November 2017 Company-Wide Teacher of the Month is Kristen Marshall from our Springfield II – Claremont location! Kristen is currently working in the Infant and Transition classrooms but is also a floater who can help wherever she is needed.
“Kristen has been a loyal team member at Claremont for just shy of five years,” said Kristen’s supervisor Kelley Carr. “Kristen is a dynamic asset to the team and the school. Her shining personality makes her a role model for all of her fellow team members. Her winning personality makes her a class act when it comes to relationships with the families and children in the school. To pick a few words that I feel stand out when I think of Kristen—humble, genuine, adaptable and supportive. She has the most likable spirit of anyone I have ever met. What she brings to LSP Claremont is immeasurable. I am very blessed to have Kristen on my team; she truly is the epitome of what a LSP educator should be.”
Kristen began working in the child care industry during college. She worked at a local church in their early childhood ministry and quickly fell in love with the children and the work she did.
“I found I wanted to definitely continue working with children in some capacity and had a true passion in the child care field,” Kristen said. She graduated with a B.S. in psychology and also minored in child and family development. Shortly after graduating, she began working at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool and has made a tremendous impact in her five-year tenure.
When asked what she enjoys most about working for this company, Kristen replied, “the one thing I enjoy most about working for LSP is simply getting to watch all our children learn and grow each day.” She’s also enjoyed building wonderful relationships with coworkers, the leadership team and the families we serve. She loves working with the babies. “I love getting the opportunity to see their personalities begin to develop. Also, the sweet baby snuggles are pretty wonderful too!”
Kristen’s favorite curriculum project has been a school-wide project. “I love that we participate in Adopt-a-Family for the holiday season each year. Community outreach and helping others are definitely core values of mine, and this project is just so near to my heart. I don’t think there is anything better than being able to provide joy to others in need, especially during the holiday season.”
Outside of work, Kristen loves spending time with her wonderful husband and her two, sweet kiddos. They enjoy the outdoors, hanging out with family and friends, and cheering on their favorite sports teams.
One thing that people might not know about Kristen, is that she is a huge fan of interior design and all things decorating. “I love going flea marketing or garage selling and finding treasure from things other people don’t want anymore!”
