Our Leadership Team

Mrs. Kristy

Co-Program Director

Hello! My name is Kristy and I am the co-director of Little Sunshine Playhouse and Preschool® in Overland Park.

In May 2009, I graduated from Tennessee Technological University earning a degree in elementary education. While obtaining my degree, I concentrated on both the academics related to early childhood development and organizations, which commit themselves to fostering early learning.

Shortly after graduation my husband and I relocated to the Northern Virginia area, from Knoxville, TN. I began my career with LLE Group, first as a classroom teacher, assistant director and then program director. We have recently relocated to Kansas and I am very excited to start our new journey.

The tender years prior to kindergarten are very important in a child’s life, and I look forward to working with you to promote a productive academic and social setting for students of all ages. I believe in fostering strong relationships with both students and parents.

I’m very excited to begin my journey with you and your children at Little Sunshine Playhouse and Preschool.

Mrs. Rachel, Co-Program Director of Little Sunshine's Playhouse and Preschool of Overland Park, KS

Mrs. Rachel

Co-Program director

Hello, My name is Rachel LaPlante and it is my pleasure to be a part of the dynamic leadership team at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool® in Overland Park. I am a proud Kansas Citian and love calling this unique and diverse place home. My wonderful husband Josh and I have two children; Avery and our son Morgan. We love spending time together, attending sporting events, exploring new restaurants, and especially traveling to new places.

I have over 10 years of experience in the early childhood education and hold a degree in child and family studies. I have spent my time working my way up the ladder, educating myself along the way.  Starting as an assistant teacher, on to lead teacher, assistant director and then director. Educating, empowering and caring for young children was where I found my passion and I consider it a privilege to serve our families.  I pride myself on my ability to create a culture of community among teaching staff and with families. Open and honest communication is key to this and we recognize the enormous responsibility we have in partnering with you on your child’s early childhood education journey – it all starts here.

I hope to meet you and your growing family soon!

We've been so thrilled to have the new directors join LSP as Program Directors! The combination of their guidance and the kind approach provided by the teachers gives us reassurance that our kids will be well cared for when we are at work. We look forward to continuing to see our kids learn and grow at Little Sunshine!

I cannot say enough about the staff here. They truly go above and beyond. We had to move our son out of his previous daycare rather abruptly and were concerned about the transition to a new care facility. From the moment we contacted them and went on our tour, to the daily LuvNotes and excellent communication we couldn't be happier! The co-directors know my child and truly care about him. They are always friendly and helpful any time I call or stop by to chat. They all chip in up front and help greet children and get them out of the car with their Red Carpet service. This is a real time saver and Easton is very friendly and helpful with this, as well as the co-directors. His teachers are angels. They are both very kind and gentle with their class. They create a very safe and comfortable environment where the kids feel welcomed and loved. My son has a hard time with transitions and has been through more than his share in his two years. His teachers have made all the difference and he is smiling and excited to go to "school" and happy when I pick him up! It is no doubt because of them. I can't express how thankful I am. They are more than a childcare facility, they are family through and through. Thank you all for loving our sweet boy. I appreciate you very much!

I have nothing but positive things to say about LSP in Overland Park. My daughter has been attending LSP since she was about 3 months old and I have been very impressed with LSP every step of the way. We love the daily report card, the ability and the safe and secure location. When accidents have occurred (which happen to all babies as they learn and grow), they have been addressed promptly and my wife and I are notified the next time we pick-up our daughter. Her main teachers and many of the other staff members have been fabulous to trust our daughter with each day. We have loved watching her grow over the past year and look forward to the months and years to come. You get what you pay for in a daycare, and LSP is truly worth every penny. From the work-friendly drop-off (6:00am) and pick-up (6:00pm) times to the loving teachers and everything in between, we greatly appreciate LSP!
