Our Elkhorn South Leadership Team
Ms. April
Program Director
Welcome! I am April, and I am fortunate to be part of the Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Omaha at Elkhorn South leadership team as their Program Director.
I have been part of the early childhood education field for over 12 years. You could say, I have done it all in that time, from teaching to giving speeches to advocate for the profession. One of favorite things to do is getting to know each person that comes through my door and making them feel like they are part of our community from the moment we meet.
I originally went to school for public relations at the University of Southern Indiana but found that I had a passion for early childhood. I received my CDA in 2018 once I knew this was where I was meant to be. I have worked my way from a pre-k teacher in 2011 all the way to your program director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse. I have been active member of the Nation Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 2018. I was part of First Five Nebraska’s Policy Leadership Committee class 2 and consider myself a forever scholar in the field.
Now, a little about me! I moved to Nebraska in late 2018 with my husband, Dustin, our two boys, Lukas and Lincoln, and our fearless feline, Shark Bait. Since then, we have added another boy, Lane, to our family. I live and breathe being a boy mom with each kid in a different stage of life. I love cheering on and supporting my local community, getting outside (yoga, dance, hiking), and taking a much-needed nap when possible. My two older boys have taught me to communicate in a way I never knew was possible. They are both neurodivergent and see the world differently than I do, and most traditional schools also. This caused me to seek out and fall in love with learning styles and schools that are more child-focused vs results-focused. This is why I am thrilled to be part of the LSP family!
Ms. Brandi
Assistant Director
Hello! My name is Brandi, and I am thrilled to be the Assistant Director at Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Elkhorn South. I began my journey with LSP in March 2024 as a lead infant teacher and am excited to now serve as the Assistant Director.
With 16 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, I have gained extensive knowledge and am always eager to learn more. Throughout my career, I have held various roles that have helped me grow professionally. I hold a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Inclusive Practices. My passion has always been in Early Childhood Education.
Seeing children grow and reach their developmental milestones brings me immense joy. I also cherish building positive relationships with the children, their families, and our dedicated staff.
Outside of my professional life, I have always lived in Nebraska. My fiancé, Dustin, and I are getting married in November 2024. In our free time, we enjoy spending time with family, going on adventures, being outdoors, and camping.
