November 2024 National Teacher of the Month
The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2024 November National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Elizabeth of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Colorado Springs at Briargate.
In talking about how Ms. Elizabeth exemplifies LSP’s core values, Assistant Director, Ms. Chelsi said, “Ms. Liz joined our team with happiness and is accommodating and helpful. She has made the kitchen the heart of the school. We are so thankful to have her here on our team!”
What age group do you teach?
I am the Chef, so I am technically not teaching in a classroom
What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love working at LSP because I enjoy cooking for everyone. Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Chelsi, and the entire staff are amazing—friendly, supportive, and kind!
What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I wanted to become a chef because I love the creative aspect of cooking and the joy it brings to people, especially children. My goal is to make children happy by serving them the best food they’ve ever had while fulfilling my dream job. Cooking helps reduce stress and brings a sense of fulfillment when others enjoy your food as much as you love preparing it.
Who and/or what inspires you and why?
My mother has been a constant source of inspiration through her hard work and sacrifices. She leads by example, teaching me how to navigate life and make wise decisions, even in uncertain times. I have immense respect for her.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my husband and kids. Watching my boys play basketball in their league is one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy cooking and grilling.
Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect?
I love doing hair for weddings, sweet 16 parties, and prom.
