July 2024 National Teacher of the Month
The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2024 July National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Hannah of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Springfield at Chestnut.
In talking about how Ms. Hannah exemplifies LSP’s core values, Assistant Director, Ms. Allison said, “Hannah has done an outstanding job in every classroom she has been in. She is organized, easy to talk to, makes all families feel welcome in the classroom. Hannah is very passionate about what she does and is great at showing someone the correct way to do something.”
What age group do you teach?
6 weeks-6 months
What is the name of your classroom?
Emerald City
What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I love getting to build a bond with each child in the early stages of life that last up until they graduate pre-k. Seeing them learn and grow even at a young age is such a wonderful experience to be a part of. It’s just one of the many things that make the job we do even more rewarding.
What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
One of our STEM projects we did a volcano using baking soda and vinegar. The kiddos loved it so much we did it pretty much every other day after that.
What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love the company values and how the classrooms are structured along with the curriculum we do.
What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I had a preschool teacher named Mrs. Reed who impacted my life in such a positive way that I wanted to be that person for other people. I wanted to be the person who created a safe environment for learning and for children to be themselves and embrace who they are. When I originally started, I did pre-k and as the years went on I realized how even sweeter it is the create that environment starting at a young age. I’m forever grateful for Mrs. Reed and I hope to leave that impact each student I have present and future.
Who and/or what inspires you?
My mom is a huge inspiration. She’s always been such a hard worker and despite long hours to provide for her family, she still showed up for us and always made it known how proud she was of us. She not only is an amazing mom and grandma but she’s an amazing nurse who has touched the lives of so many. She leaves a huge impact on everyone she meets, and I hope I’m doing the same.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love hanging out with my family, traveling and making memories. I also really enjoy baking and even sharing with coworkers!
Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect.
I’ve been to every Dixie Stampede in the country!
