December 2023 National Teacher of the Month

Ms.Kaylee, December 2023 National Teacher of the MonthThe Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2023 December National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Kaylee of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Granite Bay.

In talking about how Ms. Kaylee exemplifies LSP’s core values, Program Director Ms. Marci said, “Ms. Kaylee has been the sweetest gift to us since she started here just a few months ago. Her calm, kind and loving spirit comes out in every interaction we have seen with the students. She has been a floating teacher, and every class has requested her as a steady teacher. I have seen her handle tricky situations with grace and love. We are constantly impressed with how she handles going to school and her full-time schedule here. We are so thankful for Ms. Kaylee and hope that she stays with us for a very long time!”

What age group do you teach?
Preschool

What is the name of your classroom?
Neverland

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I love how they are discovering their independence and creating meaningful relationships with their peers as well as their teachers. They are so curious to explore their personalities and interests at this age and I love to watch them thrive!

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
I’ve really enjoyed working on the music theme so far this month! Just last week we painted with drumsticks and the kids loved it. It was so fun watching them paint and make music at the same time.

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love how kind and welcoming all the staff has been since I started. Everyone has been so helpful with showing me the ropes and getting me settled. I also love working as a floater and getting to interact with the kids in all the different classes.

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I’ve always loved working with children. I grew up with lots of little cousins, so I was always the one to babysit and help take care of them. I loved having that sense of responsibility and having the opportunity to help little ones grow and flourish!

Who and/or what inspires you?
My dad is my biggest inspiration. He has always been the type of person that put everyone else before himself. He is kind and generous to everyone he spends time with and makes sure everyone is always taken care of and happy. I have always strived to be like my dad in those ways, and I hope I make him proud.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love spending time outdoors, and up in the mountains. I enjoy camping, cooking, watching movies, and trying new restaurants around town!

Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect.
I strive to be a very optimistic person and look for the good in everyone and everything!!
